Ocean Beach is situated in San Diego on the Southern Californian coast, and it's a haven to surfers. The surfing community embodies an easy going, down to earth, independent feel, and this certainly fits the bill in Ocean Beach.

The area has a strong proud history of independent or family run businesses. When Starbucks tried to open up here there was a huge protest againstit. Starbucks did actually open, but the protest sums up the area perfectly.

The ideal Ocean Beach all inclusive vacation conjures up an image of sitting by the hotel pool, lounging over the balcony or tucking into the mini bar, because at all inclusive resorts that's exactly whats to do.

But the thing is, is that Ocean Beach is not what you would really call a resort. The typical foggy Californian weather, the strong tides and cold water is not a combination to attract the tourist market, and an all inclusive resort really needs a tourist market.

In reality the tides at Ocean Beach are so strong that even experienced surfers and swimmers have been swept away to lose their lives there.
That hardly goes along with a cosy family image you would see on an all inclusive brochure. The fact that Ocean Beach does not try to hide the facts merely goes to sum up the honest and open appeal of the place.

But of course, there are hotels in Ocean Beach of course but they are smaller scale affairs, family run hotels, bed & breakfasts, and some hostels.

Most people flock to the area for the surfing. There are other areas along the same coast which you would could indeed class as resorts, much better suited to finding all inclusive vacations.

The main attractions of Ocean Beach, apart from the surf itself, are the dog beach which is specifically designed to allow dogs to run and play free, and the pier.

The pier runs over half a mile into the sea, and a walk along it will have you passing a lot of people fishing - you don't need a normal Californian permit to fish from it.

In summary, Ocean Beach all inclusive beach vacations are not fully on the agenda - you either go there for a more earthy experience, of you go elsewhere for the all inclusive package.
